KOHELIA: The Architecture of Kinship

Kohelia, named after the river that shapes the land, is a residential project in the coastal environment of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. Designed for a respected client who is a cultural personality and their vibrant joint family, this structure is fundamentally an architecture of bonding and permanence. The challenge was to translate the warmth of a joint family structure into a modern vertical dwelling. We achieved this through an honest architectural language of exposed brick framed by clean, cantilevered white masses, offering both privacy and communal connection across the floors. The design incorporates deep balconies and integrated greenery to capture the coastal air and light. Kohelia stands as a thoughtful sanctuary where family life flows, much like the river it is named after, rooted in heritage yet reaching toward the future.

This project exemplifies our commitment to innovative design and sustainable practices. Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered to create a harmonious balance between functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.

The design process involved extensive collaboration with the client, local authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure the final result not only meets the immediate needs but also contributes positively to the surrounding environment and community.
